  • A focus on solutions and results, working collaboratively with colleagues

Directors

We have vacancies for volunteer Board Members to join HEY Credit Union’s campaign to make financial services fair and affordable for all.

Our volunteer Board of Directors – voted in by our member-owners, helps to govern HEY Credit Union, making sure we serve members well and stay true to our ethical values.

As one of our Board Members, not only would your support benefit the community, it could help you develop your skills and even boost your CV for future career development.

Each of our 10 directors brings their own experience and perspective to the role, but contributes collectively to planning our future direction and monitoring our progress.

Sue, a retired director with 12 years’ service, says:

"I would like to say that it has been a great experience for me.

At the beginning, I wondered if I had what it took to be a Director.  Did I possess the skills or experience needed for this challenge?  Well, I feel everyone has something to contribute, regardless of age, background or level of qualifications.  Life skills are just as important, so there is no need to worry that it's a difficult role to take on.

Everyone at the Credit Union is friendly and helpful - Staff, Directors and Volunteers.  There is lots of support and training available to further develop your skills, knowledge and confidence.

I found it exciting to learn about how Credit Unions work in other cities and countries along with the opportunity to meet experienced colleagues from across the globe.

So if you have a few hours a month to spare - to read the papers and participate in the meeting (either on line or in person), then fill in the nomination form.  It only takes a few minutes but the rewards you will get from becoming a Director and making a difference to the community are so very worthwhile."

Most of the monthly Board meetings now take place online, in early evenings, so it’s easy to take part wherever you live or work, without needing to travel. Although unpaid (apart from expenses), the role comes with excellent training and support, and gives huge satisfaction.

Nominations are now open for the Board elections at our December AGM. Our next new Board Member could be you! Why not email info@hullandeycu.co.uk to book an informal chat? You can also view the profiles of existing Board Members here.
