ID Requirements

Identification - Over 16 / Adult

We require one document from each list below (two separate items in total).

If neither of those two documents are Photo ID, we require an additional document from either list below (three separate items in total).

If you don't live within our common bond area but are still eligible to apply because you work there, we'll need you to prove that too. 

To prove your name:

  • Current signed Passport.
  • Current UK/EU photocard Driving Licence (full or provisional) including paper counterpart.
  • Current UK full Driving Licence (old paper style).
  • Benefit or Pension confirmation letter, State or Local Authority, such as Housing Benefit, Pension, Tax Credits etc (issued within the last 3 months).
  • HMRC notice of Tax coding, P60 (typed only), Construction Industry Scheme Card.
  • Current blue Disabled Driver's Pass.
  • EU/EEA Member state ID photo card.
  • Shotgun Licence/Firearms Certificate.
  • CRB Certificate - current.
  • Home Office Document - such as Immigration, Work Permit, Permission to remain in the UK, Certificate of Naturalisation as UK Citizen.
  • HM Forces/Police Warrant Card.

To prove your address:

  • Current UK/EU photocard Driving Licence (full or provisional) including paper counterpart. 
  • Current UK full Driving Licence (old paper style).
  • Utility bill, no more than 3 months old, such as - Gas Bill, Electric Bill, Water Bill or Telephone Bill - Land line only, not mobile.
  • Bank/Building Society Statement within the UK - showing current address. Internet downloads must be countersigned by your bank. (issued within the last 3 months).
  • Mortgage statement from a recognised lender.
  • Council Tax bill - current tax year.
  • Benefit or Pension confirmation letter, State or Local Authority, such as Housing Benefit, Pension, Tax Credits etc. (issued within the last 3 months).
  • HMRC correspondence – showing name and current address.

The person certifying must sign and print date, name, position held, organisation name (or official stamp) and state "original seen" and where applicable "photo is a true likeness of the applicant".

Identification - Under 16 / First Saver

For First Savers / Child Trust Fund accounts we will accept one of:

  • Birth Certificate.
  • Passport.
  • Letter from Child Benefit Office confirming entitlement to Child Benefit.

Identification - Community / Corporate Accounts

When your organisation applies for a Community Account, you will need to supply ID for all of your signatories (see 'Adult applicant (Over 16)'). Along with this, we'll also need verification of your organisation:

Unincorporated organisations:

A Trust

  • A copy of the Trust Deed.
  • A list of trustees, including names and addresses.

A club, society or association

  • A copy of the constitution.
  • A list of officers, including names and addresses.

An unincorporated charity

  • A copy of the constitution.
  • A list of officers, including names and addresses.

Incorporated organisations:

A limited company

  • A copy of the Company's Certificate of Incorporation together with a copy of the Memorandum and Articles
    of Association.

A Community Interest Company (CIC)

  • A copy of the Company's Certificate of Incorporation together with a copy of the Memorandum and Articles
    of Association.

A credit union

  • A copy of the Registration Certificate and Rules.

An Industrial & Provident Society

  • A copy of the Registration Certificate and Rules.

A Friendly Society

  • A copy of the Registration Certificate and Rules.

A registered charity limited by guarantee

  • A copy of registration documents.

Proof of Income - Loan Applications

If you're applying for a loan, we'll need proof of your income (except with our Matched Loan), as follows:
